In a decade, veterinary care changed hands.

The name above the door usually stays. The team you know may still be there. But the decisions – on prices, on medicines, on how long an appointment lasts – increasingly sit somewhere else.

Whilst the care and professionalism received should be consistent across the board, you deserve to know which you are choosing.

And yet – new independents keep opening.

There are early signs of a new wave of independents opening, with vets choosing to leave corporate groups and start again on their own terms.

We do not claim this reverses the trend. It doesn't, yet. But it is real, it is happening in towns across the UK, and almost none of these practices arrive with a marketing budget.

That is why we exist, to champion and promote independent veterinary care.

Perthshire's newest independent small animal practice, founded by Dr Katie Jones and Dr Lisa Elgie and opened in June 2026. The purpose-built clinic on Lawgrove Place in the Inveralmond Industrial Estate offers first-opinion medicine, surgery, dentistry and diagnostics for dogs, cats and small mammals, with 24/7 emergency cover provided in partnership with Vets Now Dundee. An in-house Almond Care Plan bundles routine preventive care, and transparent pricing is published across the practice's surgical, diagnostic and routine services.
